Şükrü Turan: your history before a first rhinoplasty

Never had cosmetic nose surgery? Prepare the nasal history that still matters when discussing a first rhinoplasty with Şükrü Turan.

Portrait of Dr Şükrü Turan

“My first rhinoplasty” does not always mean “my nose has never been treated”. If you are researching Şükrü Turan, make a short record of earlier injuries, nasal procedures and ongoing symptoms before the consultation. The purpose is to help the surgeon understand your starting point, not to decide for yourself whether you need primary or revision surgery.

The relevant professional context

Turan’s official biography describes medical study at Akdeniz University and ENT specialist training at Eskişehir Osmangazi University. His Antalya practice publishes both primary and revision rhinoplasty information. These facts identify a practice and the subjects it discusses; they do not tell us what he would recommend to an individual. See the independent Turan profile.

Build a short timeline

Use one line for each event you remember: approximate date, what happened, what treatment was given and what changed afterwards. An old injury can be recorded even if you never had an operation. If you had septal or another nasal procedure but do not know its exact name, say so and request the available report from the treating service.

Keep uncertainty explicit. “Nasal operation as a teenager; report requested” is more useful than guessing a technical name. Do not delay seeking care for current symptoms while trying to reconstruct an old record. The timeline is preparation for an appointment, not a condition for being assessed.

Distinguish your starting point from your goal

Put your present appearance concern beside, rather than inside, the medical history. For example: “I dislike the profile; I also had an injury years ago and sometimes feel blocked on one side.” Ask which parts are relevant to the proposed operation and which need separate evaluation.

If the surgeon describes the case as more complex than a routine first rhinoplasty, ask which finding changes the plan. You should not infer complexity from the mere existence of an old injury. Our primary and revision comparison explains why previous surgery is a separate consideration.

Use technique questions after the history is understood

Turan’s practice discusses Piezo instrumentation; our existing Turan article addresses that topic. This article has a different purpose: making sure the proposed technique follows an understood starting point. Ask whether the earlier event changes any part of the examination, consent or recovery discussion.

Do not assume an instrument can resolve every concern connected with previous treatment. If cartilage or reconstruction is mentioned, ask whether it is actually proposed for you and why. Keep the answer attached to the finding it is meant to address.

Check the summary before making travel plans

After consultation, write down what history was considered, what remains unknown and whether any records or further assessment are still needed. Ask how new information could affect the proposed scope. A clear account of your starting point is useful even when the final decision is to postpone or decline surgery.
