Independent doctor profile

Prof. Dr. A. Erdem Kılavuz

Acıbadem lists A. Erdem Kılavuz as an ENT professor at Maslak Hospital. Its international profile records Ege University medical graduation in 2009, ENT residency completed in İzmir in 2013 and an ENT practice that includes rhinoplasty. His publication list includes a PubMed-indexed case report about a rare serious complication after septoplasty. This independent profile uses that record to support informed-risk questions; it is not an affiliation or booking channel.

Education and professional background

  1. Current hospital

    ENT at Acıbadem Maslak

Acıbadem’s current English profile places Kılavuz in ENT at Maslak Hospital. The international profile records medical education at Ege University and specialist training at İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital. Those records establish a hospital identity and chronology, not a guarantee that every consultation or operation occurs at the same site.

  2. Research and teaching context

A professor profile with named ENT publications

Acıbadem publishes a scientific-publication list covering paediatric adenotonsillectomy, laryngectomy margins and other ENT subjects. The title “Professor” and publication record support academic activity, while the sources reviewed here do not establish a separate current university faculty appointment. Ask directly if teaching status matters to your decision.

02

What does the practice focus on?

01

Confirm what the rhinoplasty listing means for your case

Acıbadem’s procedure page includes Kılavuz among doctors connected with rhinoplasty, and the international biography lists rhinoplasty in his practice. Ask whether your issue is primary, functional or revision work; which structures would change; and whether the planned hospital and postoperative team are the ones shown in the directory.

02

Use a complication publication to improve consent, not to imply a rate

The 2017 case report describes a rare severe complication after septoplasty performed elsewhere and identifies Kılavuz as an author. A case report cannot give his personal complication rate. It can prompt precise questions about imaging, instrument safety, warning symptoms and the escalation pathway after discharge.

Clinical interests & published evidence

Evidence reviewed:

Current Maslak identity and a defined training chronology

Acıbadem currently identifies Kılavuz as an ENT professor at Maslak Hospital. The international profile records Ege University medical graduation in 2009 and ENT residency completed in İzmir in 2013, and includes rhinoplasty in his practice. These institutional records are stronger identity evidence than marketplace listings but still require case-specific confirmation of facility and team.

A rare complication report supports specific consent questions

The 2017 PubMed case report names Ahmet Erdem Kilavuz as first author and describes unilateral blindness after septoplasty performed at another institution. It is evidence of publication on a rare serious complication, not evidence that he caused it and not a rate for his practice. Ask about prevention, warning symptoms and emergency referral.

Understanding nasal surgery

Different goals. One carefully considered plan.

A useful consultation separates what you would like to change from what an examination can establish. The guide below explains the vocabulary used in nasal surgery. It is general education, not a description of this doctor’s personal technique or a recommendation for your case.

Three questions for an individual assessment
01

Form

What would you like to change about your nose within the proportions of your face?

02

Breathing

Which symptoms need an internal examination and discussion of possible causes?

03

History

How do previous treatment, health and expectations inform the discussion?

Conceptual planning diagram, not a diagnostic image or a prediction of surgical results.

Read the procedure, recovery and risk guide
01

Rhinoplasty: the external shape

Rhinoplasty changes the shape or size of the nose. Open and closed describe access through different incision patterns; these words alone do not tell you what structural work is planned. Ask your surgeon to explain the proposed changes, their limitations and why that access suits your anatomy.

NHS · Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty)

02

Septoplasty: the internal partition

The septum divides the two nasal passages. A deviation can contribute to obstruction, but an off-centre septum does not always cause symptoms. Assessment considers other contributors, including the turbinates and nasal valves. Septoplasty addresses the septum; a combined septorhinoplasty also addresses the external nose.

03

Revision: understand the earlier operation

If you have already had surgery, make that clear at the outset and bring any available operative records. A useful consultation should distinguish the concern you see today from the correction being proposed. Ask what can realistically change, what may remain and whether further surgery is appropriate at all.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation; editorial consultation prompts

Arrive with a history, leave with clear questions.

Prepare your medical conditions, allergies, current medicines and supplements, smoking or alcohol history and previous procedures. Describe both appearance and breathing concerns. The consultation should include examination, available options and an explanation of risks. Do not change prescribed medicines yourself; ask the treating team for individual instructions.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation

Recovery is a sequence, not a reveal.

This visual is an orientation to follow-up, not a fixed timetable. The treating surgeon determines your care and review schedule.

  1. 01

    Initial care

Splints or dressings may protect the nose. Obtain written instructions on care, medicines and the next review.

  2. 02

    Early review

Ask who removes dressings or sutures, when you can resume activities and whom to contact with concerns.

  3. 03

    Ongoing healing

Swelling changes over time; refinement can take up to a year. An early photograph is not the final assessment.

  4. 04

    Continued follow-up

Confirm how reviews continue after you return home and how persistent concerns will be assessed.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty recovery

Discuss the trade-offs before deciding.

Possible risks include breathing difficulty, infection, altered sensation, scarring, septal perforation, dissatisfaction with appearance and further surgery. Anaesthesia has its own risks. Ask which are relevant to your health and proposed operation, how complications would be managed and what alternatives are available.

Reviews, fees & online identity

Keep doctor, hospital and procedure aligned in reviews

For A. Erdem Kılavuz reviews on Reddit, RealSelf or other platforms, verify that the post concerns him rather than Acıbadem generally or another similarly named doctor. Separate septoplasty, rhinoplasty and other ENT work, and check follow-up length. A hospital rating or isolated story cannot establish his personal outcome or complication rate.

The Acıbadem directory is not a price quotation

No current personal rhinoplasty fee for Kılavuz is verified. Ask Acıbadem for a dated, patient-specific quotation naming him and the hospital, with functional and aesthetic procedures, anaesthesia, tests, grafts, medicines and follow-up separated. Confirm the financial effect of a changed plan or emergency care; do not infer price from an international directory.

Institutional verification before Instagram or WhatsApp

This review did not authenticate a personal Instagram account or an official patient WhatsApp group for Kılavuz. Use current Acıbadem pages to verify identity and recipient before sharing records. The word “botched” in search results is not a finding about him. A concern about a result should be evaluated against operative records, timing and an independent examination.

What is the doctor’s specialty?

Otorhinolaryngology · Professor

Which rare but serious septal or rhinoplasty risks require urgent examination after discharge?

Ask for symptoms, contact route, receiving hospital and time threshold in writing. The published case illustrates why an emergency plan matters, but it does not quantify your risk or Kılavuz’s outcomes.

Can I book this doctor through Rhinoplasty Team Turkey?

No. This is an independent information page. Rhinoplasty Team Turkey does not arrange consultations or treatment with this doctor.
