Independent doctor profile

Prof. Dr. Taner Yılmaz

Hacettepe University Hospitals currently lists Taner Yılmaz as an ENT professor in Ankara. His detailed hospital record is strongest in laryngology and airway work, while also documenting nasal-septum teaching and publications on nasal packing and septal-perforation reconstruction. This independent profile keeps that distinction explicit: it does not infer a current cosmetic-rhinoplasty practice, represent him or arrange treatment.

Education and professional background

  1. Current role

Professor on Hacettepe’s ENT faculty roster

Hacettepe’s current ENT directory lists Yılmaz as professor. His individual profile records Hacettepe medical graduation in 1991, ENT specialist training completed in 1996, associate professorship in 2000 and professorship from 2006. The same profile makes clear that his named specialty emphasis is voice disorders, phonosurgery and laryngology, which should not be relabelled as cosmetic rhinoplasty.

  2. Language and travel context

    English- and German-language background

The hospital biography records German-track secondary education, an AFS school year in the United States, English-language medical study and very good English and German. These are verifiable researchability signals for UK and German-speaking patients. They do not guarantee the language, availability or format of a future consultation, and no French-language service is documented.

02

What does the practice focus on?

01

Do not turn septal authorship into a cosmetic claim

Yılmaz co-authored work on nasal packing after septal or septorhinoplasty surgery and later septal-perforation reconstruction. These papers support questions about airway, packing and damaged septal tissue. They do not show that he currently offers aesthetic rhinoplasty or establish an outcome rate, so current indication, facility and role must be confirmed directly.

02

Plan airway safety around the whole medical history

Because his official emphasis includes laryngeal airway work, a useful consultation should include prior intubation problems, voice or swallowing symptoms, sleep-disordered breathing and earlier nasal surgery. Ask which concerns belong to nose surgery and which need separate laryngeal, sleep or anaesthetic assessment.

Clinical interests & published evidence

Evidence reviewed:

The current record is strong for ENT and laryngology, narrower for cosmetic rhinoplasty

Hacettepe’s roster confirms Yılmaz as a current ENT professor. His detailed profile names voice disorders, phonosurgery and laryngology as principal areas, while documenting nasal and septal teaching and research. A careful profile must preserve that balance. Authorship on septal papers is not proof of a current aesthetic service, procedure volume or a result for an individual patient.

Packing and laryngeal expertise support whole-airway questions

Yılmaz co-authored the bilateral-packing physiology study and the later septal-perforation reconstruction paper. His official laryngology emphasis adds a reason to disclose voice, swallowing, prior intubation and sleep symptoms before nasal surgery. The papers do not prescribe today’s packing protocol; ask what the present team uses and how airway risk is assessed.

Understanding nasal surgery

Different goals. One carefully considered plan.

A useful consultation separates what you would like to change from what an examination can establish. The guide below explains the vocabulary used in nasal surgery. It is general education, not a description of this doctor’s personal technique or a recommendation for your case.

Three questions for an individual assessment
01

Form

What would you like to change about your nose within the proportions of your face?

02

Breathing

Which symptoms need an internal examination and discussion of possible causes?

03

History

How do previous treatment, health and expectations inform the discussion?

Conceptual planning diagram, not a diagnostic image or a prediction of surgical results.

01

Rhinoplasty: the external shape

Rhinoplasty changes the shape or size of the nose. Open and closed describe access through different incision patterns; these words alone do not tell you what structural work is planned. Ask your surgeon to explain the proposed changes, their limitations and why that access suits your anatomy.

NHS · Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty)

02

Septoplasty: the internal partition

The septum divides the two nasal passages. A deviation can contribute to obstruction, but an off-centre septum does not always cause symptoms. Assessment considers other contributors, including the turbinates and nasal valves. Septoplasty addresses the septum; a combined septorhinoplasty also addresses the external nose.

03

Revision: understand the earlier operation

If you have already had surgery, make that clear at the outset and bring any available operative records. A useful consultation should distinguish the concern you see today from the correction being proposed. Ask what can realistically change, what may remain and whether further surgery is appropriate at all.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation; editorial consultation prompts

Arrive with a history, leave with clear questions.

Prepare your medical conditions, allergies, current medicines and supplements, smoking or alcohol history and previous procedures. Describe both appearance and breathing concerns. The consultation should include examination, available options and an explanation of risks. Do not change prescribed medicines yourself; ask the treating team for individual instructions.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation

Recovery is a sequence, not a reveal.

This visual is an orientation to follow-up, not a fixed timetable. The treating surgeon determines your care and review schedule.

  1. 01

    Initial care

Splints or dressings may protect the nose. Obtain written instructions on care, medicines and the next review.

  2. 02

    Early review

Ask who removes dressings or sutures, when you can resume activities and whom to contact with concerns.

  3. 03

    Ongoing healing

Swelling changes over time; refinement can take up to a year. An early photograph is not the final assessment.

  4. 04

    Continued follow-up

Confirm how reviews continue after you return home and how persistent concerns will be assessed.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty recovery

Discuss the trade-offs before deciding.

Possible risks include breathing difficulty, infection, altered sensation, scarring, septal perforation, dissatisfaction with appearance and further surgery. Anaesthesia has its own risks. Ask which are relevant to your health and proposed operation, how complications would be managed and what alternatives are available.

Reviews, fees & online identity

Procedure labels matter more than broad ENT praise

When reading Taner Yılmaz reviews on Reddit, RealSelf or elsewhere, determine whether they concern voice surgery, general ENT, septal work or external rhinoplasty. The official record is not predominantly cosmetic. A broad hospital rating, “botched” allegation or isolated story cannot establish his rhinoplasty results or complication rate.

Confirm the service before comparing any price

No current personal cosmetic-rhinoplasty fee for Yılmaz is verified. First establish whether the requested external procedure is in his current scope and where it would occur. Any written quotation should name every responsible clinician and separate nasal, laryngeal or sleep assessment, operation, anaesthesia, materials, medicines and follow-up.
