Independent doctor profile

Prof. Dr. Cem Meço

Ankara University’s academic system lists Cem Meço as a professor in its medical faculty and department head, with earlier specialist work at Salzburg. Weill Cornell Medicine lists him as an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology from 2024, and IFOS Istanbul 2026 names him chair of its Rhinology Group. This independent page is deliberately a rhinology and complex-nasal profile; it does not claim cosmetic-rhinoplasty volume, represent him or arrange treatment.

Education and professional background

  1. Current academic role

Ankara University professor and department leadership

Ankara University AVESIS records a professorship continuing from 2014 and department-head experience continuing from 2015. It also records specialist work at Salzburg’s Paracelsus medical faculty from 1996 to 2003. The profile supports academic identity and a cross-border career, not a specific cosmetic service or private operating arrangement.

  2. International appointments

Weill Cornell adjunct role and IFOS rhinology chair

Weill Cornell Medicine lists Meço as Adjunct Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology from 2024 and catalogues recent international consensus work in rhinology. IFOS Istanbul 2026 names him chair of its Rhinology Group. These are strong English-language discoverability signals, but they do not establish a UK, German or French practice or a comparative ranking.

02

What does the practice focus on?

01

Confirm whether the question is cosmetic or complex rhinology

The primary records emphasize rhinology, sinus and skull-base work rather than documenting a current cosmetic-rhinoplasty service. If you are considering external reshaping, ask directly whether Meço currently evaluates that indication, at which facility and with which team. Do not infer a cosmetic offering from a broad ENT title.

02

Escalate clear fluid leakage or skull-base history

His PubMed-indexed work addresses diagnosis of skull-base dural lesions and cerebrospinal-fluid fistulae, and his recent profile includes skull-base consensus publications. Persistent one-sided clear drainage, prior skull-base surgery or trauma requires medical assessment, not social-media diagnosis or routine cosmetic planning.

Clinical interests & published evidence

Evidence reviewed:

Ankara, Salzburg and Weill Cornell form a verifiable international record

Ankara University records a continuing professorship and department-head role, plus earlier specialist work in Salzburg. Weill Cornell lists an adjunct clinical otolaryngology appointment from 2024, while IFOS names Meço chair of its 2026 Rhinology Group. These current institutional signals support international researchability without inventing search volume, popularity or a practice in another country.

CSF-fistula evidence changes the route for a red-flag symptom

Meço’s indexed paper presents a diagnostic algorithm for skull-base dural lesions and cerebrospinal-fluid fistulae. It is not rhinoplasty outcome evidence. Its practical value is triage: persistent unilateral watery drainage, especially after trauma or surgery, warrants medical assessment before cosmetic planning. Online reassurance or a photo cannot exclude a skull-base leak.

Understanding nasal surgery

Different goals. One carefully considered plan.

A useful consultation separates what you would like to change from what an examination can establish. The guide below explains the vocabulary used in nasal surgery. It is general education, not a description of this doctor’s personal technique or a recommendation for your case.

Three questions for an individual assessment
01

Form

What would you like to change about your nose within the proportions of your face?

02

Breathing

Which symptoms need an internal examination and discussion of possible causes?

03

History

How do previous treatment, health and expectations inform the discussion?

Conceptual planning diagram, not a diagnostic image or a prediction of surgical results.

01

Rhinoplasty: the external shape

Rhinoplasty changes the shape or size of the nose. Open and closed describe access through different incision patterns; these words alone do not tell you what structural work is planned. Ask your surgeon to explain the proposed changes, their limitations and why that access suits your anatomy.

NHS · Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty)

02

Septoplasty: the internal partition

The septum divides the two nasal passages. A deviation can contribute to obstruction, but an off-centre septum does not always cause symptoms. Assessment considers other contributors, including the turbinates and nasal valves. Septoplasty addresses the septum; a combined septorhinoplasty also addresses the external nose.

03

Revision: understand the earlier operation

If you have already had surgery, make that clear at the outset and bring any available operative records. A useful consultation should distinguish the concern you see today from the correction being proposed. Ask what can realistically change, what may remain and whether further surgery is appropriate at all.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation; editorial consultation prompts

Arrive with a history, leave with clear questions.

Prepare your medical conditions, allergies, current medicines and supplements, smoking or alcohol history and previous procedures. Describe both appearance and breathing concerns. The consultation should include examination, available options and an explanation of risks. Do not change prescribed medicines yourself; ask the treating team for individual instructions.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation

Recovery is a sequence, not a reveal.

This visual is an orientation to follow-up, not a fixed timetable. The treating surgeon determines your care and review schedule.

  1. 01

    Initial care

Splints or dressings may protect the nose. Obtain written instructions on care, medicines and the next review.

  2. 02

    Early review

Ask who removes dressings or sutures, when you can resume activities and whom to contact with concerns.

  3. 03

    Ongoing healing

Swelling changes over time; refinement can take up to a year. An early photograph is not the final assessment.

  4. 04

    Continued follow-up

Confirm how reviews continue after you return home and how persistent concerns will be assessed.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty recovery

Discuss the trade-offs before deciding.

Possible risks include breathing difficulty, infection, altered sensation, scarring, septal perforation, dissatisfaction with appearance and further surgery. Anaesthesia has its own risks. Ask which are relevant to your health and proposed operation, how complications would be managed and what alternatives are available.

Reviews, fees & online identity

Rhinology reviews are not automatically cosmetic-rhinoplasty reviews

For Cem Meço on Reddit, RealSelf or other platforms, identify whether the account concerns sinus disease, allergy, skull base, teaching or external rhinoplasty. The official sources do not establish a current cosmetic caseload. “Botched” posts, star scores and isolated anecdotes cannot diagnose a complication or supply a personal outcome rate.

First confirm scope; only then request a fee

No current personal rhinoplasty price or international package for Meço is verified. First confirm whether he evaluates the requested indication and the responsible facility. A later quotation should itemize diagnostics, multidisciplinary consultations, operation, anaesthesia, pathology where relevant, medicines and follow-up. Do not price a complex skull-base pathway as routine cosmetic surgery.

Academic profiles verify identity; social accounts still need checking

Ankara University, Weill Cornell and IFOS provide independent identity anchors. This review did not authenticate a personal Instagram account or an official patient WhatsApp group. Before sharing sensitive records, verify that the recipient belongs to the named institution and that the channel is authorized. A group invitation is not evidence of a clinical relationship.
