Independent doctor profile

Prof. Dr. Metin Önerci

Metin Önerci is listed by Kent KBB in Ankara as an ENT professor whose work spans rhinology and facial plastic surgery. The centre lists rhinoplasty, septoplasty and sinus surgery among its services, while IFOS Istanbul 2026 names him Scientific Committee Chair and General Secretary. This independent profile turns those records into practical verification questions; it does not represent him or arrange care.

Education and professional background

  1. Training and career

Hacettepe training with a long rhinology record

The Kent KBB biography records medical school and ENT specialist training at Hacettepe, promotion to professor in 1997 and extensive professional work in rhinology. It also records German study supported by Goethe-Institut and DAAD scholarships. These are career facts supplied by the current centre, not evidence of the quality or result of an individual operation.

  2. International role

Scientific leadership for the 2026 IFOS congress

The official IFOS Istanbul 2026 committee page names Önerci Scientific Committee Chair and General Secretary. His centre biography also states that he speaks English and German. These are useful international-access signals for UK and German-speaking researchers; they are not rankings, patient ratings or proof that consultation is offered in a particular language on a particular date.

02

What does the practice focus on?

01

Separate external shape from the airway and septum

Kent KBB lists rhinoplasty and septoplasty as distinct services alongside nasal and allergy care. Ask Önerci to identify which findings concern the external framework, septum, turbinates, mucosa or nasal valve; which steps are aesthetic or functional; and how breathing will be assessed before and after surgery.

02

Use septal-perforation research for reconstruction questions

Önerci co-authored a PubMed-indexed study of a sandwich graft technique for medium and large septal perforations. The paper concerns a defined reconstructive problem and retrospective cases; it is not a general rhinoplasty success rate. For prior surgery, crusting or whistling, ask whether perforation is present and how its cause, size and remaining tissue change the plan.

Rhinology leadership and a current Ankara service are separate facts

Kent KBB currently lists Önerci among its doctors and names rhinoplasty and septoplasty in the centre’s services. IFOS separately identifies him as Scientific Committee Chair and General Secretary for its 2026 world congress. The first is practice-published service context; the second is professional congress governance. Neither is a patient rating, a count of procedures or a promise of outcome.

A reconstruction paper makes prior septal damage a specific question

The 2022 paper includes Önerci as a co-author and reports a sandwich-graft approach for medium and large septal perforations. Its retrospective cohort addresses perforation repair, not routine primary cosmetic rhinoplasty. A patient with previous septal surgery, crusting, bleeding or whistling should ask whether a defect exists, what tissue remains and whether external reshaping should be staged or modified.

Understanding nasal surgery

Different goals. One carefully considered plan.

A useful consultation separates what you would like to change from what an examination can establish. The guide below explains the vocabulary used in nasal surgery. It is general education, not a description of this doctor’s personal technique or a recommendation for your case.

Three questions for an individual assessment
01

Form

What would you like to change about your nose within the proportions of your face?

02

Breathing

Which symptoms need an internal examination and discussion of possible causes?

03

History

How do previous treatment, health and expectations inform the discussion?

Conceptual planning diagram, not a diagnostic image or a prediction of surgical results.

01

Rhinoplasty: the external shape

Rhinoplasty changes the shape or size of the nose. Open and closed describe access through different incision patterns; these words alone do not tell you what structural work is planned. Ask your surgeon to explain the proposed changes, their limitations and why that access suits your anatomy.

NHS · Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty)

02

Septoplasty: the internal partition

The septum divides the two nasal passages. A deviation can contribute to obstruction, but an off-centre septum does not always cause symptoms. Assessment considers other contributors, including the turbinates and nasal valves. Septoplasty addresses the septum; a combined septorhinoplasty also addresses the external nose.

03

Revision: understand the earlier operation

If you have already had surgery, make that clear at the outset and bring any available operative records. A useful consultation should distinguish the concern you see today from the correction being proposed. Ask what can realistically change, what may remain and whether further surgery is appropriate at all.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation; editorial consultation prompts

Arrive with a history, leave with clear questions.

Prepare your medical conditions, allergies, current medicines and supplements, smoking or alcohol history and previous procedures. Describe both appearance and breathing concerns. The consultation should include examination, available options and an explanation of risks. Do not change prescribed medicines yourself; ask the treating team for individual instructions.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation

Recovery is a sequence, not a reveal.

This visual is an orientation to follow-up, not a fixed timetable. The treating surgeon determines your care and review schedule.

  1. 01

    Initial care

Splints or dressings may protect the nose. Obtain written instructions on care, medicines and the next review.

  2. 02

    Early review

Ask who removes dressings or sutures, when you can resume activities and whom to contact with concerns.

  3. 03

    Ongoing healing

Swelling changes over time; refinement can take up to a year. An early photograph is not the final assessment.

  4. 04

    Continued follow-up

Confirm how reviews continue after you return home and how persistent concerns will be assessed.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty recovery

Discuss the trade-offs before deciding.

Possible risks include breathing difficulty, infection, altered sensation, scarring, septal perforation, dissatisfaction with appearance and further surgery. Anaesthesia has its own risks. Ask which are relevant to your health and proposed operation, how complications would be managed and what alternatives are available.

Reviews, fees & online identity

Read reviews by procedure, date and care setting

For Metin Önerci reviews on Reddit, RealSelf or other platforms, confirm the named doctor, hospital, operation and follow-up period. Separate sinus surgery, septal reconstruction, primary rhinoplasty and revision work. A testimonial or star score cannot establish a personal complication rate, and the word “botched” is not a diagnosis or verified finding.

No verified personal fee is published in this review

Ask the treating facility for a dated, patient-specific quotation naming the surgeon and hospital. It should separate consultation, functional and aesthetic steps, anaesthesia, tests, grafts, medicines, accommodation and follow-up. Do not convert forum prices into Önerci’s fee or assume that revision, perforation repair and primary rhinoplasty have the same scope.

Verify identity before Instagram or WhatsApp contact
