Independent doctor profile
From septal assessment to incision follow-up
Selim S. Erbek’s Ankara practice lists rhinoplasty alongside nasal obstruction, septoplasty and sinus care. His English and German pages provide a practical starting point for overseas research. This independent profile focuses on connecting the external nose to the airway and on distinguishing immediate mechanical evidence from long-term healing.

Breathing goals and the open-rhinoplasty incision
Pair appearance goals with an obstruction diagnosis
The practice’s rhinoplasty information discusses external shape together with breathing. Ask which symptoms come from septal deviation, the nasal valve, turbinates or inflammation and what each planned step is intended to change. If the appearance goal and the breathing goal require different interventions, request a plan that names them separately.
Discuss tip stability and incision follow-up
Erbek’s publication record includes tip-support and transcolumellar-suture studies. These make support and wound review useful consultation topics without determining which technique you should receive. Ask what the team monitors, when a scar or position concern warrants examination and how it distinguishes normal change from a problem needing treatment.

What the closure study actually measured
Evidence reviewed:
A suture comparison does not promise an invisible scar
The closure trial randomized 64 open-rhinoplasty patients to two suture materials and assessed scars at three months. That gives the consultation a defined subject: wound checks, suture-removal discomfort and the limits of short follow-up. Ask how your earlier incisions and healing history affect closure and who will remove sutures if needed after travel. A three-month comparison cannot promise an invisible lifelong scar.

Use immediate-support evidence carefully
Erbek co-authored the tip-support study discussed in the publication list. Its perioperative measurements cannot answer how a particular patient’s nose will look or breathe years later. Ask what follow-up measures are used for your case and whether the proposed reconstruction has a clear purpose beyond creating a desired photograph.

Where is the doctor based?
Ankara, Turkey
What is the doctor’s specialty?
ENT · Rhinoplasty, nasal obstruction and sinus surgery
What do the suture findings mean for removal and scar checks?
The study compares short-term closure outcomes, not a universal aftercare schedule. Ask Erbek which material is planned, whether removal is needed and who will examine the incision if your stay changes. Discuss the limits of the three-month scar assessment in relation to your skin and previous healing.
Can I book this doctor through Rhinoplasty Team Turkey?
No. This is an independent information page. Rhinoplasty Team Turkey does not arrange consultations or treatment with this doctor.

Ankara practice and English–German information
- Professional record
From university work to private practice
The biography records Ankara University medicine, ENT training at Ankara Training and Research Hospital, later work at Başkent and private practice from 2021. When researching an older paper, check its institutional date: a historical university affiliation should not be assumed to describe the facility responsible for a new operation.

English, German and an international-patient page
The official site provides English material, a German biography and a health-tourism information page. These are direct language-access signals for UK and German-language research, with French readers able to use this independent translation. Confirm interpreter arrangements and the language of consent; page availability is not a verified language service or evidence of demand.

Understanding nasal surgery
Different goals. One carefully considered plan.
A useful consultation separates what you would like to change from what an examination can establish. The guide below explains the vocabulary used in nasal surgery. It is general education, not a description of this doctor’s personal technique or a recommendation for your case.
Form
What would you like to change about your nose within the proportions of your face?
Breathing
Which symptoms need an internal examination and discussion of possible causes?
History
How do previous treatment, health and expectations inform the discussion?
Conceptual planning diagram, not a diagnostic image or a prediction of surgical results.

Rhinoplasty: the external shape
Rhinoplasty changes the shape or size of the nose. Open and closed describe access through different incision patterns; these words alone do not tell you what structural work is planned. Ask your surgeon to explain the proposed changes, their limitations and why that access suits your anatomy.
NHS · Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty)
Septoplasty: the internal partition
The septum divides the two nasal passages. A deviation can contribute to obstruction, but an off-centre septum does not always cause symptoms. Assessment considers other contributors, including the turbinates and nasal valves. Septoplasty addresses the septum; a combined septorhinoplasty also addresses the external nose.

Revision: understand the earlier operation
If you have already had surgery, make that clear at the outset and bring any available operative records. A useful consultation should distinguish the concern you see today from the correction being proposed. Ask what can realistically change, what may remain and whether further surgery is appropriate at all.
ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation; editorial consultation prompts
Arrive with a history, leave with clear questions.
Prepare your medical conditions, allergies, current medicines and supplements, smoking or alcohol history and previous procedures. Describe both appearance and breathing concerns. The consultation should include examination, available options and an explanation of risks. Do not change prescribed medicines yourself; ask the treating team for individual instructions.

Recovery is a sequence, not a reveal.
This visual is an orientation to follow-up, not a fixed timetable. The treating surgeon determines your care and review schedule.
- 01
Initial care
Splints or dressings may protect the nose. Obtain written instructions on care, medicines and the next review.
- 02
Early review
Ask who removes dressings or sutures, when you can resume activities and whom to contact with concerns.
- 03
Ongoing healing
Swelling changes over time; refinement can take up to a year. An early photograph is not the final assessment.
- 04
Continued follow-up
Confirm how reviews continue after you return home and how persistent concerns will be assessed.
ASPS · Rhinoplasty recovery
Discuss the trade-offs before deciding.
Possible risks include breathing difficulty, infection, altered sensation, scarring, septal perforation, dissatisfaction with appearance and further surgery. Anaesthesia has its own risks. Ask which are relevant to your health and proposed operation, how complications would be managed and what alternatives are available.

Language access, quotations and patient accounts
Separate rhinoplasty accounts from sinus and sleep treatment
In a Selim Erbek patient account, separate a scar concern from persistent blockage, sinus symptoms or sleep-apnea treatment. The three-month closure paper provides a time frame for discussing a wound; it does not decide what caused an individual scar. Ask when the incision was photographed, whether sutures remained and whether it was examined.

Confirm the hospital and scope before comparing price
This review verifies no current personal rhinoplasty price or standard international package. Ask whether assessment, septal work, anaesthesia, hospital stay, wound checks and later remote reviews are included. Clarify who pays for additional care if travel or healing differs from the plan; an English health-tourism page does not settle those contract terms.
