Independent doctor profile

Prof. Dr. Tolgahan Çatlı

Tolgahan Çatlı is an ENT surgeon listed at Medicana Zincirlikuyu in Istanbul, where nasal aesthetic surgery forms part of a wider ENT practice. His background also covers ear surgery and clinical teaching. This independent profile helps distinguish what his hospital documents from what still needs a personal assessment, especially the relationship between a desired nasal shape and breathing concerns.

Education and professional background

  1. Education and specialist training

    Education and specialist training

Medicana lists Ankara University medical graduation in 2004 and Gazi University ENT training in 2009. Its biography also records US observerships. Observation visits describe educational exposure; they do not imply current employment, a US practice or a guarantee about surgical outcomes.

  2. Teaching roles in a broader ENT career

Teaching roles in a broader ENT career

The hospital biography describes earlier clinical leadership and training roles at İzmir Bozyaka, followed by work in Istanbul institutions. These historical posts provide context for his professional path. For a prospective operation, the relevant practical check is the currently named hospital and operating team, not the number of previous institutions.

02

What does the practice focus on?

01

Turn a shape request into a specific plan

His current hospital profile lists nose aesthetics, with rhinoplasty named on the French and German versions. Before comparing techniques, identify the change you want in the bridge, tip or overall proportions. Ask what the examination shows and which structures would need alteration. Photographic simulation can be discussed as a planning aid, without treating a proposed image as a promised result.

02

Keep sinus symptoms in the consultation

Endoscopic sinus surgery is another listed interest. If nasal blockage, previous sinus treatment or altered smell accompanies an aesthetic concern, describe it separately. Ask whether further assessment is necessary and whether one plan or separate treatment decisions are appropriate. The presence of several services on a profile does not establish that combining operations is right for you.

Clinical interests & published evidence

Evidence reviewed:

Distinguish different kinds of experience

Çatlı’s profile includes otologic surgery and cochlear implantation alongside nasal surgery. That breadth helps identify the relevant consultation, but evidence about hearing treatment cannot answer questions about rhinoplasty. Ask for an explanation grounded in cases comparable to your nasal anatomy and previous operations, including the limitations of that comparison. No surgeon-specific rhinoplasty outcome rate is verified here.

International information and its limits

English, German and French hospital biographies are available. The English site displays a UK contact and the German site a German contact; these belong to the hospital’s international access arrangements. They do not prove Çatlı’s language fluency, UK clinical services or popularity. Clarify who conducts and interprets the consultation, consent discussion and postoperative reviews.

Understanding nasal surgery

Different goals. One carefully considered plan.

A useful consultation separates what you would like to change from what an examination can establish. The guide below explains the vocabulary used in nasal surgery. It is general education, not a description of this doctor’s personal technique or a recommendation for your case.

Three questions for an individual assessment
01

Form

What would you like to change about your nose within the proportions of your face?

02

Breathing

Which symptoms need an internal examination and discussion of possible causes?

03

History

How do previous treatment, health and expectations inform the discussion?

Conceptual planning diagram, not a diagnostic image or a prediction of surgical results.

01

Rhinoplasty: the external shape

Rhinoplasty changes the shape or size of the nose. Open and closed describe access through different incision patterns; these words alone do not tell you what structural work is planned. Ask your surgeon to explain the proposed changes, their limitations and why that access suits your anatomy.

NHS · Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty)

02

Septoplasty: the internal partition

The septum divides the two nasal passages. A deviation can contribute to obstruction, but an off-centre septum does not always cause symptoms. Assessment considers other contributors, including the turbinates and nasal valves. Septoplasty addresses the septum; a combined septorhinoplasty also addresses the external nose.

03

Revision: understand the earlier operation

If you have already had surgery, make that clear at the outset and bring any available operative records. A useful consultation should distinguish the concern you see today from the correction being proposed. Ask what can realistically change, what may remain and whether further surgery is appropriate at all.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation; editorial consultation prompts

Arrive with a history, leave with clear questions.

Prepare your medical conditions, allergies, current medicines and supplements, smoking or alcohol history and previous procedures. Describe both appearance and breathing concerns. The consultation should include examination, available options and an explanation of risks. Do not change prescribed medicines yourself; ask the treating team for individual instructions.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty consultation

Recovery is a sequence, not a reveal.

This visual is an orientation to follow-up, not a fixed timetable. The treating surgeon determines your care and review schedule.

  1. 01

    Initial care

Splints or dressings may protect the nose. Obtain written instructions on care, medicines and the next review.

  2. 02

    Early review

Ask who removes dressings or sutures, when you can resume activities and whom to contact with concerns.

  3. 03

    Ongoing healing

Swelling changes over time; refinement can take up to a year. An early photograph is not the final assessment.

  4. 04

    Continued follow-up

Confirm how reviews continue after you return home and how persistent concerns will be assessed.

ASPS · Rhinoplasty recovery

Discuss the trade-offs before deciding.

Possible risks include breathing difficulty, infection, altered sensation, scarring, septal perforation, dissatisfaction with appearance and further surgery. Anaesthesia has its own risks. Ask which are relevant to your health and proposed operation, how complications would be managed and what alternatives are available.

Reviews, fees & online identity

Compare nasal accounts, not all ENT reviews

For Tolgahan Çatlı reviews, distinguish rhinoplasty from ear operations, hearing implants and general hospital feedback. Look for a named procedure, dated follow-up and comments on breathing as well as shape. Reddit and RealSelf stories can inform consultation questions, but cannot establish a complication rate. The search word “botched” is not proof that a harmful event or negligence occurred.

Make the nasal scope visible in the quote

No verified personal price is provided. A Çatlı quotation should distinguish cosmetic nasal work from any proposed functional or sinus procedure and name the operating surgeon. Ask what hospital, anaesthesia, reviews and possible additional treatment cost. Compare the written exclusions and follow-up arrangements as carefully as the total, particularly if travel and accommodation are offered separately.

Check which treatment a post actually shows

An Instagram hospital post may concern several doctors or ENT treatments. Check whether Çatlı and the relevant operation are identified and whether images use comparable views, lighting and follow-up dates. No WhatsApp patient group is authenticated here. A hospital messaging number does not establish a peer-support group; check administrators and commercial interests before relying on shared stories.
